KDDPC Corporate Membership
14 December 2009
Keighley & District Disabled Peoples’ Association are the only independent disabled peoples centre in the Bradford Metropolitan area.
To recognise the role played by disabled people in business, the Centre has widened its membership by introducing a new category of corporate membership.
Membership is awarded to companies in the Keighley & Bradford district on the basis of a firm’s demonstration of its corporate responsibilities, particularly in respect to people with disabilities and we are pleased to welcome Leach & Thompson into the fold.
David McKay, Director of Business & Enterprise at the charity said; “I first met Mick (Milner) over fifteen years ago in the early days of the Keighley Business Forum. He has not lost any of the drive and enthusiasm I saw then for Keighley or for the success of businesses in the town, and I consider his support for our corporate membership as a positive sign that we are taking the Disabled Peoples’ Centre in the right direction.”
The membership is not just a fundraising vehicle and is reflective of the charity’s progressive approach to a threat of cuts in funding across the board. Corporate members enjoy discounts on room hire, exhibition costs and advertising rates in the centre’s newsletters. There is also the advantage members get by using their membership status on letterheads and marketing materials to show their customers and suppliers their commitment to disability.
The highlight of the corporate year will be in July, when Keighley & District Disabled Peoples’ Centre hosts K-DEX, and exhibition and seminar programme celebrating the achievements of disabled people in business for themselves. The two day event will close with a gala awards dinner where a series of business awards will be made to members.
